The Thailand outboard has been my go-to outboard since 2014. I haven't looked back. The great thing is you can do all the work yourself without special tools. Thailand outboard motors are built to use common power plants like simple power generator engine.
Removing the coupling can be hard, but you need the proper tool and lots of leverage. Then it's no problem.
Of the Thailand outboard motors, I only use SPS. I have not tried the other competitors in the marketplace, but I have no reason to.
Thailand outboards are economical. They sip on gas. Don;t hot rod them because you'd have to run high octane gasoline which defeats the purpose of an economical engine.
The Thai longtail comes in many sizes, but we only have access to the small sizes here in the western world. Fortunately the sizes offered are the most economical.
The Thai longtail boat motor is a long shaft with a propeller bolted onto a common engine like a go-kart engine or horizontal shaft lawn mower engine.
Your best bet with a Thai longtail motor is a Thai longtail mud moor kit like SPS available at mudmotorkits.com
