Awesome day of fishing, horrible day of filming. Equipment failures and exposure problems almost made for unusable footage, but there is a story no matter what. I did manage to catch two blue cats.
Jug fishing bait: while I intended to use bear meat, the meat was too good to use just for catfish bait. Jug fishing for big catfish in my waters works well. Just use big bait.
Jug fishing for blue catfish is all I concentrate on. The channel catfish don't get big down here. Blues and flatheads are the main ones.
Jug fishing for catfish is the #1 method catfish anglers use in my area. We don't use rod and reel that much. Jug fishing is often a family outing. Often pontoon boats are the best boat for this type of fishing.
My jug fishing setup boils down to a Carolina rig with two hooks separated three feet apart. It work well.
The best jug fishing tip I can give you is the more jugs the better. I don't consistently catch fish with fewer than 15 jugs. 30 is where I tap out because I can't keep up with them all.
