Fly tying bass flies is fun. Let's start wit ha golden shiner fly pattern.
A friend told me that stripped bass were biting on golden spoons. Also a fellow fisherman gave me his renaming live golden shiners, and I caught a nice spotted bass while drifting the swift current below the dam.
Since largemouth bass eat golden shiners, a golden shiner fly pattern would make great largemouth bass flies. I have yet to catch a striped bass with these, but if they're there, godlen shiners would make great stripped bass flies as well.
I am not a fly fishermen, but I do tie flies to use with conventional gear.
This is a bucktail shiner. Bucktail is a classic material in making streamers. I used to use synthetic materials, but natural hairs flow better in the water and are more pleasant to work with on the vice.
